Andrea Kane Biography
Andrea Kane was born in 1955 in The United States. She grew up reading books, especially the Nancy Drew stories, and also books by Daphne Du Maurier. She started telling stories in her mind from the young age of 4, but it was her parents who gently pushed her to put all her stories to paper, encouraged her to write her stories down. They also were the ones to push her to get her books published.
Later in life, she also started reading the Robert Ludlum books, where she enjoyed his attention to detail, engrossing storylines and his indepth research for his stories.
Initially, she started writing historical romanced, of which currently 14 are written. Over the years, however, the author switched genres to romantic suspense and thriller, which has remained so far the author’s main genre in which she writers he books.
When writing her books, Andrea Kane does a lot of research as well, and she even consults with the FBI to get the details right. In fact, over the years, the author has cultured long-lasting relationships with both the FBI and the NYPD. Often members of these teams are mentioned in the Acknowledgement part of the books.
The author’s longest series to date, Forensic Instinct, focuses on Casey Woods, former Navy SEA, who is the president of the private investigation firm. The firm tackles the cases in an odd way, less encumbered by following the law. This causes problems for Casey’s other half, FBI Supervisory Special Agent Kyle “Hutch” Hutchinson, who does have to follow the law and smooth things out when the team’s less than orthodox means of solving cases and protecting clients draws heat on the team.
Andrea Kane finds the human mind fascinating, so her books, regardless of the genre, focus more on characters and the workings of their minds than on the story itself. It takes the author around a year to write one book due to the extensive research she does for each novel, her strong and detailed character development, and and all the twists and turns her thrillers usually include.
In addition, when writing her books, be it romantic suspense or psychological thriller, Andrea Kane works together with her family to get the book done. She lets them read the chapter, talk over the main points, get their input on character development and major story ideas.
While the Andrea Kane books are pretty realistic thrillers for the most part, there is some paranormal involved, even if to a small degree. For example, in the Forensic Instincts series, one of the team members, Claire, has a clairvoyance trait, where she knows about things that happen when she is not around. Also Yoda, the computer the team is using, seems to have its own personality, which makes this robotic character a fan of many readers of the series.
