About Nancy J Parra and Her Books
Nancy J Parra (website) is an American author of cozy mysteries, all involving recipes (mostly gluten-free). Most of her books also include recipes at the back.
The author is a self-taught baker who has been baking from the early age of five. It is natural that her love of baking mixed with her love of books created what turned out to be several wonderful cozy mystery series that are read all over the world.
In her youth, during her military service, Nancy served four years in the Air Force while she was stationed on the small island of Guam, located in South Pacific.
Nancy attended the University of Kansas from where she got her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, with the aim of becoming a reporter. Still, she realized that it was way more fun to interview people in her own mind that go out and do it with real humans, which means the job of a reporter was out and the job of fiction writer was in.
The Baker’s Treat cozy series deals with an issue Nancy J. Parra is working through herself: celiac disease and eating gluten-free. After feeling ill for a long time, Nancy was finally diagnosed with celiac disease in 2006.
Since she loved baking from a very young age, now it was the time for her to change her beloved recipes to gluten-free ones. Many of those she actually posted on her Facebook page at the request of her readers, many of whom also have various food allergies.
While readers of cozy mysteries know all her series, it is overall acknowledged that The Baker’s Treat is the author’s most popular series. It is surprising (or maybe not) just how many people can related to Toni and his gut issues. Those books really struck a chord with many.
The Nancy J Parra Morgan Brothers and Morgan Sisters was the very first series the author wrote, starting in 2002. The series ended in 2006 with The Lovin’ Kind. This is probably the only series that is not cozy and food related. It is a historical romance series.
Under the pseudonym Nancy Coco, she writes another food-related cozy mystery series titled Candy Coated Mystery. Her latest alias, Nell Hampton, was brought to life in 2017 through her new series Kensington Palace Chef Mystery – not surprising yet another foodie cozy mystery series.
The latest Jancy J Parra books are currently Forever Fudge (the latest in the Candy-Coated Mystery) and Lord of the Pies (the latest in the Kensington Palce Chef series).
The books are all fun to read, and if you enjoy reading cozies (who doesn’t?) and love cakes, cookies and sweets as much as the author does (despite the serious illness she is dealing with), you will love all the novels written across all three pseudonyms by this popular author.
The author Nancy J. Parra currently lives in the Midwest with her husband and two children, as well as her mixed-breed dog that the family fondly called George Bernard.
